The oldest European boxing tournament started today in Sofia, Bulgaria. The 76th Strandja, elite men and women international tournament, famous and recognized all over the world, will be boxed in Sofia Sports Hall from 24 February – 2 March, and this time will be a good check before the IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships.
The Bulgarian Boxing Federation and its LOC, have a huge experience in organizing big events. As any time before, the long tradition of this tournament is followed with great organization.
Altogether 222 athletes will box at Strandja this year. There are 143 elite men and 79 elite women boxers, who came from twenty-two different countries. Besides the local stars like Radoslav Rosenov, Rami Kiwan, Yasen Radev, SevdaAsenova and Zlatislava Chukanova, spectators will have a chance to watch Olympic champions and vice champions as Hasanboy Dusmatov, Abdumalik Khalokov, AsadkhujaMuydinkhujaev, Nurbek Oralbay, Yang Liu, etc.
During the next week Sofia will be the center of European and world boxing. Strandja will be a true boxing holiday. All the bouts will be live broadcasted on the official YouTube channel of the Bulgarian Boxing Federation. The opening ceremony starts tomorrow at 2.30 pm.
