Armenia, Israel and Russia shared the gold medals at the Yerevan Major Cup, held in the Armenian capital city from 14 – 20 April. This year, Albania, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus, Georgia, Greece, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Kazakhstan, Moldova, North Macedonia, Romania, Russia, Slovenia and Slovakia were participating countries. Altogether 106 boxers competed in thirteen elite men’s weight categories.
Besides Israel, whose boxer Miroslav Kapuler won the first place in the 75 kg weight category, Armenia and Russia shared the rest of the gold medals, winning six of them each.
It was a strong tournament where spectators in the Mika Sports Arena were able to watch high level boxing and great boxers, continental and world medalists, such as Edmond Khudoyan, Artur Bazeyan, Ilya Popov, DzambulatBizhamov, Narek Manasyan, Davit Chaloyan, Muslim Gadzhimagomedov, etc.
One of the greatest talents in European boxing, two times European and World youth champion from Russia, Vyacheslav Rogozin, won the gold medal in the 54 kg weight category. The Yerevan Major Cup was his international debut in the elite age group, and Rogozin met the expectations.
