First European Championships in this year was successfully finished in Porec, Croatia. The best European boxers among youth men and women participated at Intersport Arena from 4 – 15 April. Altogether 330 athletes, 110 women and 220 men, from 33 countries took part in this major event.
The Croatian Boxing Federation did an excellent job in organizing the Championships. They once again showed their ability to host big and important competitions such as EUBC Youth Men and Women European Boxing Championships. All aspects were covered professionally, so all participants could truly enjoy their stay in Porec, the city that will host the World Boxing Championships next October.
All 25 men’s and women’s finals were held yesterday. Team Ukraine had the most finalists in the ring, and they won two gold medals in women’s competition and as many as six gold medals among men. This result put them on top of the list of the most successful teams in Porec. Second place went to England, and third place was team Ireland.
The best male boxer is Maxym Zymenko from Ukraine. He boxed in the Flyweight category. The best female boxer is Romanian Middleweight Amalia Maria Nita, while the trophy for the most competitive boxer belong to Croatian silver medallist in 57 kg weight category Lana Paljusic. Trophy for the best R&J of the Championships went to experienced Italian referee Luca Vadilonga.
