Technical meeting and official draw of the IBA Youth World Boxing Championships confirmed an amazing 593 participating boxers from 74 nations. There are 180 youth women and 413 youth men who will try to get the medals at this major event. The IBA Technical Delegate is very experienced Mr. Wayne Rose from Australia.
Just like at the EUBC U23 European Championships held in Sofia this month, the official draw was conducted manually. Regarding this topic, Mr. Dragoljub Radovic, the Montenegro Boxing Association representative, stated: ‘On a special request of IBA President Umar Kremlev and Montenegro Boxing Association, we conducted a manual draw today. It is because we want to have clean boxing in all its aspects, and the draw is a very important part of it. From the draw, and especially from a refereeing and judging perspective, we will do our best to ensure clean boxing.’
The Montenegro Boxing Association prepared a spectacular opening ceremony in the Old Town of Budva, with a massive team parade that included all of the teams’ members, huge fireworks and a concert at the end.
Bouts started today at 11 am, and until 28 October there will be three sessions. Finals, at the Mediterranean Sports Center, will be divided in two days on 2nd and 3rd November. Livestream is available on the IBA official YouTube channel.
