The President Heydar Aliyev Cup, international boxing tournament among junior boys, was held in Baku, Azerbaijan from 12 -19 May. 116 boxers from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan took part in this year’s edition of the competition, first held in 2003. All accommodation and meals expenses were covered by the host federation.

It was the second international boxing tournament in Azerbaijan organized this year. The first one was the elite men and women Great Silk Way, the competition that was held last March.  

After six days of boxing, the best team by the teams ranking was Azerbaijan. They won six gold medals, nine silver and eleven bronze. Second place went to Georgia, while the third place went to Kazakhstan. The best boxer of the tournament was Ali Bakhishov from Azerbaijan, the trophy for the most determined boxer belonged to Yerdavlet Atayov from Kazakhstan, and the trophy for the best R&J went to Danara Akhmetova, also from Kazakhstan.
