Another wonderful boxing event is competed in SofiaBulgaria. The Strandja International Boxing Tournament, the oldest in Europe and one of the greatest tournaments in the world was held in Bulgaria’s capital from 22 February – 3 March. The event gathered some of the strongest boxing countries, with 222 boxers participating among elite men and women.

All the finals bouts were held yesterday in the Sofia Sports Hall. In the really spectacular atmosphere, spectators were able to see world class boxing, and to enjoy watching Olympic, world and continental medallists. Bulgaria managed to win four gold medals, two in men’s and two in women’s competition. Radoslav Rosenov (60kg), SabriErgunal (48kg), Zlatislava Chukanova (50kg) and SevdaAsenova (48kg) were also awarded with trophies for the best boxers of the tournament, as well as SabyrkhanTorekhan (67kg) from Kazakhstan, and Donjeta Sadiku(60kg) from Kosovo.

The best team of the Strandja is team Kazakhstan. They won an amazing five men’s finals and one among women. Team number two is Uzbekistan, who participated with the men’s team only, while the third place belongs to Bulgaria. The best referee of the tournament is Arman Burkitbayevfrom Kazakhstan.
