In May 2018, the Bulgarian city of Albena was a host of the first EUBC Schoolgirls European Boxing Championships. Fifteen years after the inaugural Schoolboys European Championships, EUBC Competition Commission decided to add girls’ competition for 13 and 14 years old boxers. The Bulgarian Boxing Federationorganized the event at a high level, as always, placing it in the beautiful city on the coast of Black Sea. The EUBC Technical Delegate was Mr. Dragoljub Radovic, leading this mixed competition with altogether 323 boxers, from 26 countries.

Schoolgirls boxed in 12 different weight categories, starting from 36 kg, and ending with up to 70 kg weight category. There were 81 girls boxers participating from 15 countries: Belarus, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, England, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Kosovo, Norway, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia and Ukraine.

The most successful team among the schoolgirls was Russia, winning six gold and five silver medals. Second place went to team Ireland with three gold and two silver medals, while the third place was England, who managed to win one gold medal, with two silver.

The next edition of the Schoolgirls European Championships in Banja Luka is going to be number six, since this age group championship was not organized in 2020.
