The Russian junior team was the most success at the Heydar Aliyev Cup, an international tournament that was held in Baku, Azerbaijan from March 27th – April 2nd. A strong team that consisted of 12 boxers, won four gold medals, and became the best national team of the competition. The champions are: Pavel Kondrashov (54 kg), Timofey Tenyaev (66 kg), Rustam Gasanov (75 kg) and Yan Bogdanov (+80 kg). Second place went to Kazakhstan, with three gold, three silver and five bronze, while the third place was Azerbaijan with three gold, one silver and thirteen bronze medals.

The tournament was held after a three year break due to Covid-19 pandemic. This time 101 boxers from Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belarus, Georgia, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan took part. The EUBC Technical Delegate was Mr. Dragoljub Radovic from Montenegro. After five days of boxing in the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation sport center, boxers from eight countries succeeded to earn medals, with Uzbekistan and Belarus also winning gold medal winners alongside the top 3 teams.

At the end, the special trophies went to Behruz Kurbonov (Uzbekistan) for the Best Technical Boxer and Daniyar Akbisenov (Kazakhstan) for the Most Persistent Boxer), while the best R&J was Ms. Masmahanim Salimova from Azerbaijan.
