Beatrise Rozentale voted best boxer of the Riga Ladies Boxing Cup
Latvia’s welterweight champion Beatrise Rozentale won the trophy for the best boxer at the Riga Ladies Boxing Cup. The European U22 Championships bronze medallist from last year had two victories in Riga, and deserved the prestigious trophy. She was better than Auciute Austeja from Lithuania in the semifinals, and Kovalainen Krista from Finland in the finals.
The Riga Ladies Boxing Cup was first organised in 2018. Because of Covid pandemic, this tournament was not on the map in the last two years. This edition was the fourth since its inception, and it was held from March 8-13. Altogether 90 boxers from 16 countries took part. Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, England, Estonia, Finland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Poland, Portugal, Sweden and Ukraine were among the countries, with 14 schoolgirls, 23 juniors, 20 youth and 33 elite women boxers. The EUBC Technical Delegate of the tournament was Mr. Dragoljub Radovic from Montenegro.
The Director of the Riga Ladies Boxing Tournament is Mr. Oskar Bokis, whose daughter Nikolina represented Latvia’s boxing through several years. She was a multiple National Champion, and European junior silver medalist from Galati, Romania in 2019.
The bouts during the three days of competition were held in the Hanzas Sport Hall. Besides the Beatrise Rozentale, who won the trophy for the best boxer, two more awards were presented. Sofia Liahotska from Ukraine was the best among juniors, while Katie Okeffe from Ireland was the best among the youth boxers.
