International boxing tournament President Heydar AliyevCup is going to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan from 12 – 19 May. This event will be organized among junior boys (in all weight categories), and junior girls (all except 66 kg, 70 kg and +80 kg). The Azerbaijan Boxing Federation will cover accommodation and meals expenses, as well as local transportation. This will be the second international tournament organized in Baku during this year, after the Great Silk Way last March.

The tournament was first held as the Presidents Cup back in 2003. From its beginning it was organised for the junior boys age group. Visited mostly by ex-Soviet Union countries, this competition was always strong with good quality boxing, which was expected with the countries such as Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, etc.  

Last year’s edition had 101 boxers from Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belarus, Georgia, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Trophy for the best boxer went to Behruz Kurbonov from Uzbekistan.
