One of the oldest boxing tournaments in Europe, the Belgrade Winner, is going to take place in the capital of Serbia next week. The 61st edition of this elite men and women international competition will be on program from 12th – 18th March. This time, the venue will be Aleksandar Nikolic Sports Hall, the same one that will be used for the upcoming European Elite Men and Women Boxing Championships, planned for the second half of April.
The tournament has a long tradition, and being held during the March, April or May, most of the time was one of the main preparation tournaments for major events. It will be the same this time, because of aforementioned Europeans. Last year, boxers from 26 countries took part, with 190 boxers among elite men and women. The prestigious trophy went to the host country boxer Omer Ametovic, the best foreign boxer was Wanderson De Oliveira from Brazil, while the best R&J was Mukash Yrsaliev from Kyrgyzstan.
The Serbian Boxing Federation is organizing many international tournaments every year. They successfully organized the World Elite Men Boxing Championships in 2021, and they continue the streak with Elite Europeans in April. Not too long ago, at the IBA Board of Directors meeting, Serbia was voted for the host country of the World Elite Women Boxing Championships for the year 2025.
