The new edition of the EUBC Youth European Boxing Championships will take place in the Bulgarian capital in Sofia where the first competition day starts on April 14. Following the EUBC U22 European Boxing Championships, the European Boxing Confederation’s second event in 2022 is coming soon with fantastic battles.
More than 400 boxers registered from 40 nations to the forthcoming EUBC Youth European Boxing Championships therefore all of the participants can expect long competition days. Many of the last year’s medallists registered to attend to the new edition and the top juniors from 2021 can join to the youth championship in Sofia. The Bulgarian Boxing Federation hosted the EUBC Youth European Boxing Championships in 2019 last time and after three years, the event returns to Sofia.
Boxers who were born in 2004 and in 2005 are eligible to attend in the EUBC Youth European Boxing Championships in Sofia. The 2021 edition introduced the new youth weight categories, the girls attended in 12 while the boys in 13 different weight classes in Montenegro and the schedule will be the same in Sofia too.
Despite of the Covid-19 period in 2020, 62 female and 113 male boxers competed for the medals in the 2020 edition of the EUBC Youth European Boxing Championships in Budva. Montenegro’s port could host the last edition of the event once again but with the participation of 339 boxers.
The safety of all participants, the continuous medical checks, the social distancing, the hygienic preparations, wearing masks, the vaccines check and all of the health controls were the responsibility of the local organizers in Bulgaria avoid any new Covid-19 cases during the EUBC Youth European Boxing Championships.
