The 28th Algirdas Socikas international tournament is successfully finished after three days of boxing in Kaunas, Lithuania. Team Kazakhstan is the most successful team with 11 medals, 6 gold, 3 silver and 2bronze. Second place in team rankings went to Ukraine, while the third place belong to England. Altogether 70 athletes from Armenia, England, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Scotland, Ukraine and Wales competed this year.

World and European champion from Lithuania, Gabriele Stonkute, won the gold medal in 75 kg weight category at this famous tournament, held in Kaunas from 20 – 24 March. In the final bout, she stopped OlesiaKrysiuk from Ukraine by the RSC in third round, and became the only Lithuanian boxer to climb the highest podium this time.

Algirdas Socikas was a Lithuanian boxing legend. He was two times European champion (Warsaw, 1953 and Berlin, 1955) in the heavyweight category, six times Soviet Union champion, and three times Baltic champion.
