Nearly six hundred boxers from 74 nations participated at the IBA Youth World Boxing Championships in Budva, Montenegro. European male boxers claimed 19 medals, winning four world titles. The most successful European country is Russia, with three world champions, while the fourth gold medal went to amazing super heavyweight from Ireland Adam Olaniyan.
Adam Olaniyan achieved four wins in Budva, claiming victories against boxers from Mexico, Hungary, Iran and Uzbekistan. Besides his first opponent, who he defeated by the RSC-I, Irish won all the bouts by unanimous decision, showing his extraordinary talent.
Russia has three gold medallists among men boxers, which placed them in third position in men’s team ranking. World champions became Viacheslav Rogozin in the 54 kg weight category, Platon Kozlov in the 60 kg, and RuslanShikhmambetov in the 80 kg weight class. Russia also has two silver medallists, with Aleksei Gukov (71 kg) and Kamil Dzhamaev (86 kg) losing in the finals.
Vice-champions in Budva became three more boxers from European soil, fantastic fighters from Azerbaijan Bilalhabasi Nazarov and Ali Abdullaev, as well as YolberDaniel Baldomo Carbonell from Spain.
Altogether ten European countries had their boxers on the podium. Besides Russia, Ireland, Azerbaijan and Spain, teams with bronze medallists are Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, France, Poland and Turkey.
