The EUBC Board of Directors, on its last meeting of July 21, has resolved to convene the
ordinary Congress on October 31 in Budva (MNE).
The Congress will represent the first milestone in shaping the future of European boxing in all
its forms, from 𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐮𝐫 to semi and professional boxing. As already been notified to the
National Federations, an agenda’s item will be the discussion of a new EUBC membership
policy with subsequent vote on constitutional amendments.
Whereas the EUBC Board of Directors praises IBA for all the support and initiatives to secure
the success of the EUBC Championships and the continental development of boxing in recent years (the EUBC Cup, the multiple courses for R&J, the prize money for the Elite boxers are
just some examples), it remains indisputable that the EUBC continues and will continue to
govern the European boxing enforcing the IBA’s state-of-the-art regulations. At the same time, it is a constitutional mission of the EUBC to “promote the ideals of the Olympic Movement as expressed in the Olympic Charter”. To achieve such a mission and to play an active role within the Olympic Movement, the EUBC shall make some structural changes, reinforcing its position as the sole european governing body of boxing and being the authoritative voice for the european National Federations, athletes, coaches and officials.
Dr. Ioannis Filippatos, President of the EUBC: “The landscape of boxing is dramatically
changing and there are many uncertainties about its future, which make our National
Federations not in the position to plan and strategize the next Olympic cycle. Their discomfort is totally understandable. However, there are also some certainties and EUBC wants to be a certainty for our National Federations and for the Olympic Movement. That’s why,
irrespective of any future of boxing at the Olympics, the EUBC shall effectively become the House of European Boxing and with this clear target in mind we are developing a new
membership policy to be discussed and voted at the Congress. The policy will help the
European National Federations with their relationships with their NOCs, but it will also
make them feel part of the House of European Boxing, where youth boxing can be developed
and where elite boxers can progress and pursue their dreams in the Olympics as well as in their professional careers. We are also preparing the first EUBC Champions Night in Montecarlo, with details and bouts to be announced soon”
The EUBC is also pleased to announce that the last episode of the Protagonist has been
released. At the eve of Paris 2024, the episode is featured with French boxer legend
Dominique Nato, President of the French Federation. The full episode is available here
