The traditionally strong and well-attended Junior and Youth international boxing tournament is going to be held in the city of Eger, Hungary from June 5th – June 10th. This will be the 72nd edition of the Bornemisza tournament, the oldest European boxing event for the younger age group. According to previous years, the organizers expected high participation.
The Technical Meeting and the Official Draw took place on June 5th while bouts will start one day later, and continue until June 9th. Departure day is June 10th. Participation is higher in this edition with 235 boxers as compared to last year’s 224.
After the Sport Entries Check, the confirmed numbers show 12 NFs with a total of 235 boxers: Youth Men – 116, Youth Women – 31, Junior Men – 61, and Junior Women – 27. The participating countries are Azerbaijan, Finland, Italy, Montenegro, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Slovakia, Slovenia, Romania, Scotland, Ukraine and Hungary. The Technical Delegate is Mr. Sima Viorel from Romania.
The Local Organizing Committee, the very experienced Hungarian Boxing Association, is ready for another successful event. The well-trained team of people who are taking care of the organization has proved their capabilities in the past. The Bornemisza is without a doubt, one of the most famous European tournaments.
