Youth World champion and two times European champion among youth boxers, Azalia Amineva from Russia, won the gold medal at the 20th Oil Countries Boxing Cup, held in the city of Nizhnevartovsk, Russiafrom 25 – 29 March. This very talented 20-years old boxer from Oktyabrskiy had three strong victories and showed dominance in the elite women age group. 115 elite men and 50 elite women from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Republic of Congo, Cuba, Georgia, Guinea, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Mongolia, Nigeria, Russia, Serbia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan box in all 13 men’s and 12 women’s weight categories.
After five days of boxing in Samotlor Sports Hall, boxing fans had the opportunity to see 38 bouts among elite women and 102 bouts among elite men. The best team of the tournament is Russia, who showed its dominance winning 23 gold medals. Second place went to Belarus, while the third place went to team Kazakhstan. This tournament was one of the preparing competitions for the upcoming EUBC Elite Men and Women European Boxing Championships, planned for 15 – 29 April in Belgrade, Serbia.
