The 12th Nations Cup International Boxing Tournament in Sombor, Serbia, ended on a high note, with all participating nations winning medals after six days of good, competitive boxing. Ninety-nine boxers from 12 countries participated in this traditionally strong event since the Algerian team did not arrive, even though their team was registered. Boxers from Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belarus, Croatia, England, Germany, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Romania, Serbia, and Slovakia competed in Sombor. This was the 12th edition of this international women’s tournament, which was held in the Schoolgirls, Junior, Youth, and Elite categories.
The spectators in Mostonga Sports Hall had the chance to watch some of the best European boxers, especially in the elite age group, such as European Championships medalists Sara Beram and Nikolina Cacic from Croatia, Timea Nagi from Hungary, Nicol Durikova from Slovakia, and Perijoc Lacramioara from Romania.
Trophies for the best boxer in each age category were awarded.
Best Schoolgirl boxer – Natasa Lukic (Serbia)
Best Junior boxer – Ella Lonsdale (England)
Best Youth boxer – Mihaela Badescu (Romania)
Best Elite boxer – Jelena Zekic (Serbia).
The best boxer in the tournament was Dragana Jovanovic (Serbia), and the best local boxer was Sanja Mitic (Serbia).
The Serbian Boxing Federation organises five international boxing tournaments every year. The 12th Nations Cup was the first in 2023 and the experienced LOC hosted yet another successful event.
