One of the oldest European boxing tournaments, the Golden Glove, is going to be held in the Serbian city of Nis, from 11 – 17 December. Nis is going to be the host city of the IBA Elite Women’s Boxing Championships next year, while the same tournament was held there back in 2018. The organizer, the Serbian Boxing Federation, decided to make small corrections, so the tournament will this time be organized for junior, youth and elite men and women.
Arrival day is 11 December, technical meeting and official draw will be on 12 December, while the boxing will be from 13 – 16 December. Departures are planned for 17 December. The tournament will be held in the Cair Sports Hall, and the organizer will provide money prizes for all medal winners.
The first edition of the tournament was held back in 1957, and the best boxer was Nenad Maric from Yugoslavia. During the years, this prestigious trophy went to many legendary champions such as Zvonimir Vujin, Mate Parlov, Marjan Benes, Bratislav Ristic and MirkoPuzovic. Dmitry Bivol from Russia, one of the most famous boxers at the moment, also participated at this tournament in 2011, and claimed the gold medal.
