294 boxers at 67th Bocskai Memorial Tournament

The City of Debrecen in Hungary will be the center of boxing in Europe during the next seven days. The 67th edition of the International Memorial Tournament Bocskai officially started yesterday with the Technical Meeting and the Draw. An impressive number of participants are registered this year. Altogether 294 boxers will fight for the medals, 105 elite women and 189 elite men. Spectators will have a chance to see contests in all 25 weight categories, 12 for the women and 13 for the men. The EUBC Technical Delegate is Miss. Anna Laukkanen from Finland, one of the most experienced officials in the sport.

Unlike previous years, this time the tournament will have three boxing rings, due to the high number of boxers. The first sessions start 7th February, while the women’s finals will be on 10th February, and the men’s finals on 11th February. The livestream from the tournament will be provided on the Hungarian Boxing Federation official YouTube channel.

Twenty-six countries from the four continents will compete in Debrecen. There are representatives from Argentina, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, England, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Scotland, Slovenia, Serbia, Switzerland, Slovakia, Sweden, Thailand, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.

Boxing fans will be able to watch a lot of good boxers at this event. Among many there are some famous names as Oleksandr Khyzhniak and Yurii Zakhariev from Ukraine, Nurbek Oralbay and Dariga Shakimova from Kazakhstan, Vladimir Mironchikov from Serbia, Vasile Ustroi from Belgium, Richard Kovacs from Hungary, Aneta Rygelska from Poland, and Agnes Alexiusson from Sweden.
