On 14 October the finals were held in Montenegro in Budva, surrounded by beautiful buildings in the Centre of the Old Town, where many fans gathered to support their favorite athletes, who competed in 13 weight categories representing the following countries: Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Moldova, Poland, Russia and Serbia.
Let us remember that during the medal ceremony certificates were also handed out to the athletes for winning the first place for 15,000 US dollars, the second place was 10,000 US dollars and the third place was 5,000 US dollars, athletes who reached the quarter-finals received 1,000 US dollars each, a big thank you to IBA President Umar Kremlev for the great prize money.
The best team was Russia with eight medals, including 4 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals, the second place was Bulgaria with five medals, including 3 gold and 2 silver medals, and the third place team was Armenia with six medals, including 1 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze medals.
The best boxer was Sofiane Oumiha from France in the 60kg weight category, and he won his final duel against the talented 19-year-old Radoslav Rosenov from Bulgaria.
In addition, the cup for the best referee went to Luca Vadilonga from Italy.
The EUBC President Dr Ioannis Filippatos was present during the final gala and watched the boxers’ struggle with admiration.
Behind us is the EUBC Elite Cup, successfully organized at the highest level, a big thank you to the President of the Montenegro Boxing Federation Mr Aleksander Klemenko and his LOC team who did a great job during the whole competition.
In less than a month we will return to Budva where the EUBC Under-22 Championships will take place.
