Rafael Serrano Lozano Jr, the young flyweight from Spain, has won his first contest in Paris. He defeated Yusuf Chothia from Australia by split decision, and he will box against tough Yunior Alcantara Reyes from Dominican Republic on 2 August. Talented Rafael Serrano Lozano Jr.is one of the youngest boxers at the Olympics. He is following in his father’s footsteps, since Rafael Lozano Sr.competed at three Olympic Games, claiming one bronze and one silver medal.

Altogether sixteen European boxers climbed into the ring yesterday, seven women and nine men. Besides young Lozano, victorious were Bennama Billal from France, and Gabrijel Veocic from Croatia, who boxed in the first session. Experienced Stanimira Petrova from Bulgaria is boxing in the 54 kg weight category. She won the bout by split decision, and will fight in quarterfinals on 1 August. Turkish featherweight Esra Yildiz also defeated her opponent from Mali.

In the second session, two victories were achieved. HaticeAkbas from Turkey, fighting in 54 kg, and Murad Allakhverdiyev from Azerbaijan, who boxed in the 80 kg weight division. 

Session three of day four brought us interesting matches. World champion and three times European champion from Ukraine, Oleksandr Khyzhniak won his bout against Pylyp Akilov from Hungary, while 20-year-old very talented Julia Szeremeta from Poland defeated OmailynAlcala Cegovia from Venezuela by split decision.
