The 53rd edition of Golden Gong international tournament started in Skopje, North Macedonia. Boris Trajkovski Sports Hall hosted this traditional boxing tournament which started on 4 May, while the final bouts are planned for 6 May. For the first time in its history, the event is organized for men and women. Boxers from 13 countriestake part in the competition that will last three days. 37 boxers, including 7 women who box in three weight categories, 54 kg, 57 kg and 66 kg.
Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Wales and North Macedonia are participating this year. The EUBC Technical Delegate is Mr. Dragoljub Radovic from Montenegro, who applied the Round Robin system for all categories with three or four boxers. The most decorated boxer of the tournament is World champion from Japan Okazawa Sewonrets, who is fighting in the 71 kg weight category.
The 53rd Golden Gong international tournament is one of the preparation tournaments for the Olympic Games, scheduled for July/August this year.
