The Romanian Boxing Federation is organizing the Moldavian Belt International Tournamentfrom 3 – 8 September in the city of Iasi. The competition is be for the youth (17 and 18 years old) and U22 (from 19 – 22 years old) men age groups. 122 boxers from 8 countries, Ukraine, Walles, Croația, Hungary, Moldova, Israel, Belgium and Romania was yesterday in the draw of Moldavian Belt.
Last year’s edition of this tournament was held for the junior boys and youth men age groups. There were 105 athletes from Spain, Hungary, Italy, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Romania, Serbia and Ukraine. Host nation and Kazakhstan were dominant among juniors, winning eleven gold medals out of thirteen, while among youth men, a strong team from Hungary, led by two European champions Levente Olahand Krisztian Nileborg, won four gold medals.
Ukraine one of the important country which is this year in Iasi proposed today, in the first day of competition, an amazing fight at 71 kg Under 22: MATYAKUBOV Bozorboi vs ZAKHARIEIEV Yurii. Ex world champion won with 5-0 after a very close bout and probably he ensure the place in his team for Under 22 European Championships – Bulgaria.
The Romanian star at youth division, Arun Tudoroiu (67 kg) won impressive by RSC R1. Tudoroiu was viceeuropean champion in 2023 in Yerevan and he will be in Romanian Team for World Youth Championships – Montenegro.
Israel come in Romania with 20 boxers and their boxers demonstrate in Romania that Israel team is stronger.
2 youth boxers advanced in the next round at 54 and 71 kg while RAHAL Abdallah lost very close in front of Lewis Alfie from Walles.
Novikov Yehor (63,5 kg) and Zoubi Ali (63,5 kg), Adham Kayouf (67 kg) and Ben Zatopolski (71 kg) won in the first day of Moldavian Belt.
Two Hungarians won important bouts today: Csiki Robert (63,5 kg) and Rafael Buza (67 kg) and gain places in the semifinals of the competitions. Walles boxers won 3 bouts all of them after British boxers lost first round: Alfie Lewis (youth) and Cory Jones (Under 22, 54 kg) and Orlando Holley Sotomi
(Under 22, 75 kg).
The Romanian Boxing Federation successfully hosted the Dracula Youth & Junior Open (over 500 participants from 25 countries) in February, and a few weeks ago, Golden Belt (elite competition). Moldavian Belt is third EUBC international competition in 2024.
Iasi is a university city in Eastern Romania near the border of Moldova and it has a population of more than 300,000. Iasi has his own airport, second airport after Bucharest Otopeni.
The finals of Modavian Belt will be held in Polivalentă Sport Hall (3.000 places) and will be broadcasted by the Romanian national television.
