The Bulgarian Boxing Federation is one of the most important organizations in the European boxing family. Not only because of their phenomenal results throughout history, but also because of their organizational skills and abilities, one of the most recognized boxing tournaments – Strandja, and numerous European and World championships that they organized on their land. In this year they mark 100 years of boxing in Bulgaria.
On that occasion, the celebration was held at the Sofia Sports Hall on 18th October, the event that gathered some of the legends of Bulgarian boxing, ex and active boxers, coaches, and many other guests. Among them there were three Olympic champions – Peter Lesov, Ivaylo Marinovand Stoika Krasteva, as well as Minister of Youth and Sports Georgi Glushkov, the member of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee Plamen Krastev, the Rector of the NSA Prof. Krasimir Petkov, Chairman of the Bulgarian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics Iliana Raeva, President of the Bulgarian Taekwondo Federation SlaviBinev, Secretary General of the Bulgarian Wrestling Federation Valentin Raichev and others.
“I am honored to be here now among these giants, and what’s even greater is that we’ve got so many legends in one place. Together with them, we also remembered those who are unfortunately no longer with us but laid the foundations upon which we now continue to upgrade. Thank you to my team, without whom this event would not have been possible. I hope, in another 100 years, our heirs will have twice as many reasons to celebrate,” shared Bulgarian Boxing Federation President Mr. KrasimirIninski.
