The city of Gliwice, located in the southern part of Poland, is hosting the traditional women’s boxing tournament Silesian Open. This will be nineteen year in a row since Mr. Henryk Wilk, with his team, started organizing this worldwide famous tournament. Sports Hall Jasna will this time host junior, youth and elite women boxers from thirteen countries: Bangladesh, Czech Republic, England, Guinea Bissau, Georgia, Hungary, IBA Neutral, Kazakhstan, Poland, Switzerland, Slovakia, Ukraine and Wales.

First day of boxing was yesterday. There were fifteen bouts on the program, four among junior and the rest among elite women. Today’s fights, twenty of them, will start at 5 pm. The 19th Silesian Open international tournament gathered altogether 127 boxers. There are 23 among juniors, 28 among youth and 76 among elite. It is the first tournament in Europe where elite women boxers compete without the head guards.
