The Royal Spanish Boxing Federation is going to organize the 2nd International Boxing Tournament Enrique Rodriguez Cal “Dacal World Cup – 2024” in the town Mostoles, located next to Madrid. This U22 and elite men and women competition will be held from 23 – 29 September. This event will be the great preparation tournament prior to the EUBC U22 European Boxing Championships, that will be organized in Sofia during the October.
The tournament will be held in memory of Mr. Enrique Rodriguez Cal “Dacal”, the first Olympic boxing medallist from Spain (Munich ’72). “Dacal” also achieved the gold medal at the Mediterranean Games (Smirne ’71), bronze medal at the European Championships (Belgrade ’73), bronze medal at the inaugural World Championships (La Habana ’74), and gold medal again at the Mediterranean Games (Argel 75’).
Last year’s edition of this event lasted four days and hosted 71 men and women boxers from eleven countries. Besides the host nation, athletes from Belgium, England, France, Hungary, Lithuania, Romania, Scotland, Ukraine, Wales and one IBA neutral team took part in 2023.
