All three women boxers from Turkey that fought yesterday in Paris won their bouts. It was a great day for the reigning Olympic champion Busenaz Surmeneli, Olympic silver medallist Busenaz Cakiroglu, and phenomenal bantamweight Hatice Akbas. Surmeneli and Cakirogluadvanced to the quarterfinals, while Hatice Akbas fought for the pass to the semifinals, and claimed first medal for the Turkish boxing team at this competition.
It was a good day for European boxers who achieved eleven victories. Emmanuel Reyes Pla from Spain and Alfonso Dominguez Loren Berto from Azerbaijan, both of them boxing in the 92 kg weight category, were victorious yesterday, and secured bronze medals. The same situation was in the 63 kg weight class, where boxers fought for the semifinals. In that weight category, Europe will have two representatives in the last four phaze, since Sofiane Oumiha from France and Lasha Guruli from Georgia were better than their opponents.
In the women’s part of the competition, besides Turkish boxers, a place in the quarterfinals secured Pihla Kaivo-Oja from Finland and Wassila Lkhadiri from France. They box in the 50 kg weight category. In the welterweight, another two talented boxers won their contests. Anna Luca Hamori achieved her second win in this tournament, and Oshin Derieuw from Belgium was better than IvanusaMoreira from Cabo Verde.
