Seven competition days were completed at the EUBC Elite Men and Women European Boxing Championships in Belgrade, Serbia. 337 athletes took part at this very important event. They represent 34 countries, including one IBA neutral team. Before the semifinals, boxers from 19 countries have secured medals. Future days will show which colors their medals will be. All the semifinal bouts are on program on Thursday, 25 April.
Teams with the most medals are Russia and Serbia. They have 20 medals each and share the first place up to now. Russia won 10 medals among men and 10 among women, while Serbia has 9 medals in men’s competition and 11 in women’s. Bulgaria is next with 11 medals, 6 for men and 5 for women, then there is Armenia winning 7 medals and Hungary 6 medals.
In the overall ranking, 18 countries succeeded to win at least one medal. In the men’s competition there are 15 countries that will have the boxer on the podium, and in women’s competition there are 14 national teams.
The European Boxing Championships is first time organized at the same time for elite men and women. Belgrade was host city of two World Championships in its history, in 1978 and 2021, while the next year the Serbian capital city is going to be the host of another World Championships, this time among elite women.
Rest day will be on 26 April, after which two finals day will follow. Finals will start at 5 pm.
