The most important European Championships in 2024 is going to be among the elite men and women, planned from 15 – 29 April in Belgrade. On that occasion, representatives of the European Boxing Confederation visited the capital of Serbia, and made the site visit prior to this massive event. The President of the EUBC, Mr. Ioannis Filippatos, Technical Delegate, Mr. Viorel Sima, Competition Committee Chair, Mr. Maxim Certicovtev and Competition Manager, Mr. DragoljubRadovic, are very satisfied with the preparations and the effort Mr. Nenad Borovcanin, the President of the Serbian Boxing Federation, and his hard working team have done until now.
After the meetings with venue, hotels’ and transportation managers, participants of this coordination visit also attended the meeting with the Republic of Serbia Minister of Sport, Mr. Zoran Gajic, who offered his great support to upcoming championships. Mr. Gajic is aware of the huge importance this event is going to have for the sport of boxing in Serbia, and is very happy that Belgrade will be the host city of another major competition, only three years after the World Elite Men Championships.
It is interesting to mention that the renovated AleksandarNikolic Sports Hall, where the championship is going to be held, was used for boxing before. Back in 1973, it hosted the European Boxing Championships, while five years later, in 1978, this venue was home of the World Boxing Championships.
The Serbia Boxing Federation has a lot of experience in organizing international competitions, since they have as many as five international tournaments every year, with the best known elite men and women Belgrade Winner tournament, one of the oldest in Europe.
