The Second European Boxing Championships started in the Romanian city of Ploiesti, near Bucharest, and will last until July 31st. This time, the best European junior boxers, aged 15 and 16 years old, are going to compete for the medals. Altogether 378 boxers, including 260 boys and 118 girls are participating, which is the highest number in the last four years. Following countries will box in Ploiesti: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, IBA – Czech Republic, England, Estonia, Finland, Georgia, IBA – Germany, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Scotland, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, Ukraine and Wales.

The IBA Technical Delegate, Mr. Dragoljub Radovic from Montenegro, led the Technical Meeting and Official Draw on July 20th, while the first session is on program today. Boxing will start at 1 pm in the Olimpia Sports Hall, Ploiesti, with the second session following at 5:30 pm. The program will continue at the same time every day until July 28th (the rest day), and the finals are on the program on July 30.

The Romanian Boxing Federation is one of the most experienced Federations in organizing major events. There is a long list of events they organized in history, from international tournaments until continental championships. They have very strong Local Organizing Comittee, that will make sure everything works well. The EUBC competition managers Viorel Sima and Radek Chojnowski are working hard with the LOC.
