The 41st edition of the prestigious Gee Bee International Boxing Tournament is going to be held in Helsinki from April 12 – 17. The Elite men will compete in twelve weight categories while there will be seven categories for the women. Similar to the other editions, all the bouts will be held in the Helsinki Sport Hall, starting with the preliminaries on April 13th, while the finals will be on April 16th. This year, altogether fifteen national teams from Europe, Asia and America are registered for the tournament. Besides the host country, the other nations are Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Estonia, Lithuania, England, Scotland, Wales, Canada, Bahrain, Germany, USA, Israel and Ukraine.

The first edition of the tournament was held in 1982, and through the year, many boxers from different countries participated. Among the best that fought for trophies in Helsinki were Bulgarians Ivailo Marinov, Petar Lesov and Kubrat Pulev, Polish Tomasz Adamek, Romanian Francisc Vastag, Russians Alexandr Lebziak, Alexei Tischenko and Alexander Povetkin, and probably the most famous among them Cuban Felix Savon.

The 2022 edition gathered 87 boxers (20 women and 67 men). Trophies for the best among women and men went to Stanimira Petrova from Bulgaria and Bakhodur Usmonov from Tajikistan.

The tournament is named after Gunnar Gee Bee Barlund, Finnish heavyweight boxer who won the European amateur title in Budapest, 1934.
